Temperatures near 90 degrees and humidity to match couldn't deter the intrepid backpack patrol yesterday on the Machickanee Trails. Only one month to go until the Porkies!

Mountain Bay Trail Cleanup Service Project
Many members of Troop 1468 did a Good Turn by cleaning up our troop's section of the Mountain Bay Trail.
In our Most Interesting or Useful Trash Item competition, the winner is Brad Wigger, who collected a tote bag (which he used to keep picking up trash). Mr. Verba was a close second with his cast iron rail section that he plans to recycle as an anvil...

Campout at Gardner Dam - April 5-7
The calendar may have said it was Spring, but our April campout at Gardner Dam definitely felt like winter! We pitched our tents on bare grass and woke up to 4" of snow, perfect for some unexpected sledding. But, the clouds cleared, the mercury climbed to a balmy mid-30s, and it was time for some baseball as well. Toss in some patrol competitions, a hike in the woods, and lots of good food, and it turned out to be a great campout after all.
This campout was a lesson in why a Scout should always Be Prepared. Definitely one for the memory books! Did I say 4" of snow? I'm pretty sure it was 6...or 8...
