Please select summer camp merit badges by first meeting in April

Due to the fact that the troop will be working with pack 4468 at the second meeting in April, please have your merit badge choices to Mr. Voelker BY OR AT THE FIRST MEETING IN APRIL.

We will take a little time at the start of the meeting to answer any remaining questions about the merit badge process. Boys who have been to camp before should know what’s going on already and can also help out.

Summer Camp Merit Badge Signup Info

Camp Tesomas offers many different advancement opportunities as well as activities for older scouts. Please look all the information over carefully and decide by the FIRST TROOP MEETING IN APRIL what you would like to sign up for.

Look under “Tesomas Documents” on the right hand side for more information.

EAGLE QUEST – FIRST YEAR SCOUTS. It is highly recommended that all first-year scouts participate in the “Eagle Quest” program. This covers many of the rank requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class rank. Scouts can also do the Basketry and/or Fingerprinting merit badges if they wish.

EAGLE QUEST – OTHER SCOUTS. If you are missing a few items to advance in rank, you can go to the “Open” session at the Eagle Quest area, from 3:30-5:00pm each day after your merit badges (no need to register now).

MERIT BADGES. A full list of available merit badges is available on the blog. Please pay attention to any starting requirements and prerequisites and have these done BEFORE you come to camp. Otherwise, you will NOT complete the badge at camp.

MICRO-TREKS – OLDER SCOUTS.  Scouts who are 13 and older and who do not wish to take merit badges can register for different “trek” programs. These run for the entire week. An additional fee is required. If you are interested, please let me know ASAP as registration is open now and treks are limited to 10 scouts.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - SUMMER CAMP - TESOMAS SCOUT CAMP - JUNE 19 - 25, 2016

SUMMER CAMP – TESOMAS SCOUT CAMP – JUNE 19 – 25, 2016

I know with this cold frigid weather it’s hard to think about Summer Camp, but before you know it June will be here and we need to plan ahead.  So it’s never too early to start thinking about Boy Scout Summer Camp. You will need to have a medical form filled out so make sure to plan ahead to visit your doctor.

This year the Scouts took a vote and decided they wanted to go to Tesomas Scout Camp instead of Bear Paw. It is located on Crystal Lake located North of Rhinelander. It is a similar experience to Bear Paw in a different setting.

You will be camping out in tents all week. Troop 1468 does have some tents and there are some scouts that will bring their own.  As time gets closer and plans are made, these details can be worked out.

The Troop will be dining in the dining hall.  They encourage lots of enthusiasm in the Dining Hall during meals, so please join in on the fun!

For your swimming experience there is beautiful spring fed Crystal Lake (there is no pool).

Units will assist with camp wide duties such as flag ceremonies, manning swim towers on the Waterfront, cleaning the shower building and maintaining a respectable campsite.

You have opportunities to learn lots of Scout skills and earn merit badges.  There are also Advancement opportunities, so make sure to sign up for these.  But most of all you will have fun, fun, fun!!!!

We will have Scout leaders attending the camp with the Scouts, and will have parent volunteers providing transportation.  We may be asking for volunteers to provide transportation, how many drivers we need will depend on how many Scouts we have attending camp.

The 2016 program for Tesomas Scout Camp is not available, but to view information on the 2015 Tesomas Scout Camp click this link http://clsr.samoset.org/tesomas/

For information on Troop 1468 including recommended packing lists and a link to the BSA medical forms, see links on this blog.

Please fill out the Tesomas Summer Camp Outing Sheet to reserve your spot and return as soon as possible to Peggy Bettis at troop1468@gmail.com or turn in at a troop meeting to Dave Bettis, Cody Bettis or Peggy Bettis.  Once you have filled out the BSA Long-Term Camp Medical Form you will need to make 3 copies – keep 1 for yourself, mail 2 copies to Wendy Lambert.
